USCarrier Telecom Celebrates 10th Anniversary
-The Brainchild of 20 Georgia Telephone Companies Marks a Significant Milestone-
ATLANTA, GA – December 17, 2007 – www.uscarrier.com - USCarrier Telecom marks its 10-year anniversary as the Southeastern provider of wholesale long-haul fiber optic transport. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the company was the brainchild of twenty local independent telephone companies with the mission of investing in the benefits of a statewide, next-generation fiber optic network. The goal was to fully own and operate their Georgia footprint while servicing second and third tier cities with cutting-edge telecommunication services. A venture that, at the time, was both visionary and risky.
With the backing and encouragement of the Board of Directors, USCarrier has survived the downturn in the telecom business, the mega-mergers and been through a complete metamorphosis over the past ten years. Not only has the name changed since its inception, originally named Georgia Independent Telephone Group, but so has its core business. Since the demand for content-driven applications such as IPTV and mobile video requires considerable bandwidth, USCarrier is leveraging their core network to include cost-effective long-haul Ethernet services.
The only thing that has remained constant in USCarrier’s history has been its employees.
Early on, the company adopted the philosophy that the employees are its best assets and the strong family-like corporate culture has been one of the keys to retaining workers. The company boasts a 90% employee retention rate with a majority of the current staff hired during the start-up phase.
"USCarrier's first ten years have proven extremely rewarding. We could not have found a better or more dedicated and hard-working team, and I look forward to the company achieving even greater success in the future," said Teddy Solomon, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
USCarrier has grown its footprint, not only geographically in Georgia, but also through the acquisition of an Alabama-based network, Lightwave in 2004, and through strategic partnerships throughout the Southeast. The company plans to drive revenue through new customer sales, improved engineering and operating performance, additional product enhancements and the further expansion of their network footprint.
"At the core of our business is the knowledge that we provide an essential communication services to our customers. While we are proud of our industry-leading record of performance and reliability, we are constantly striving to do more," said Joaquin Luna, CFO of USCarrier Telecom. The year 2007 commemorates our tenth year in business and over that time period we have developed an unparalleled reputation in the telecom industry.”
This year in celebration of their 10th Anniversary, the USCarrier team started a tradition of giving back to the Atlanta community by volunteering at a local food bank. The company plans to make volunteering a quarterly event to foster social responsibility within the communities in which the employees work and live.
